Narrow defeat in a battling match away to DVTK

We took the lead in the 30th minute through Fanni Vachter, our forward finishing superbly. The advantage did not last long: three minutes later DVTK equalised through Anastasiia Myhal, and in the 39th minute Panna Nagy put the hosts ahead, so we went into the break 2–1 down in Diósgyőr.

We came out of the dressing room with great energy in the second half and put together several promising attacks. Our efforts paid off in the 58th minute when Fanni Vachter scored again to level the match (2–2). Once again, however, we could not enjoy the goal for long: barely a minute later the hosts retook the lead, setting the final score at 3–2. Although we did everything we could for an equaliser late on and created several chances, this time we were unable to collect a point in Diósgyőr.

Balázs Dörnyei, head coach:
„We played a very hectic match. Both teams had scoring opportunities and glaring defensive mistakes. Unfortunately, we made more and bigger errors at the back, so we had to chase the result. In the second half we managed to equalise and by then showed our better side. But in the first half, immediately after taking the lead, we conceded from a long ball where our defence made a mistake. The truth is that today we gifted the opposition an entire half. We were not aggressive enough, won too few balls in midfield from which we could launch attacks. This was a match that could have ended in a draw, but we made one more mistake.”

Fanni Vachter:
„We took the lead, but practically gave the opposition a one-half advantage. In the second half we managed to equalise, but they responded immediately. We kept trying to score, but unfortunately we could not turn the match around.”

Next Saturday we host ETO FC in round 6 of the Simple Women's League.
