We are delighted to announce that we have signed Alberto Marí on a two-year deal. The 25-year-old, 183-centimetre centre-forward joins our team after his contract expired at Spanish top-flight side Valencia. He made 25 competitive appearances for Los Che's first team. In the 2022/23 season Valencia were seriously threatened by relegation, and it was Marí who found the net late in the match against Celta Vigo, a goal that effectively secured the club's top-flight status. Valencia have remained an established La Liga side ever since. Marí previously played for Real Zaragoza and most recently spent time on loan at Mirandés. He has made a total of 46 league appearances in Spain's second tier. Marí's pace and technical ability will further expand our attacking options.
"I have arrived in Hungary with great anticipation to join a big club with a great history. I can hardly wait to help my team-mates and achieve ambitious goals together with them. Of course the names Honvéd and Puskás were familiar to me, and Hungarian teams have also been visible on the international stage in recent years. I would not say that many people in Spain follow Hungarian football, but that does not mean they do not know about it. More and more Hungarian players are appearing in Europe's top leagues, and Hungary has repeatedly been a talking point in Spanish football. I hope that together with my Spanish team-mates (Pablo and Asier García – ed.) we can give people even more reasons to talk about Honvéd. I am a team player, so my personal goals are the same as the team's. We have to achieve together the objectives we set for ourselves, and I want to reach the highest possible level with Honvéd, whose supporters and infrastructure are also impressive!"
Welcome to Kispest, Alberto!
