As is well known, there were significant changes to our women's squad at the beginning of the year: while several players departed, we also welcomed new signings, including 25-year-old defender Levandrea Williams. Our player arrived from the United States, previously played at college level and also represented European clubs, including Omonia in Cyprus and FC Pinzgau in Austria. She says her integration has been smooth and the language barrier has not caused any problems.
“I feel pretty good considering I'm only halfway through the season. Everyone here is very helpful: they always ask whether I need anything or how I'm feeling on and off the pitch. My relationship with my team-mates, and even with the other members of the academy, has gone to a completely new level. Learning the language is difficult because Hungarian is quite hard to learn, but many of the girls try to help with translation. If they aren't translating at that moment, it's enough for me to watch what the others are doing and then try to get the best out of myself based on that. And if I do something wrong, I simply have to try again.”
Our women's team made a successful start to the spring season: they secured a place in the Hungarian Cup semi-final, then won 2–0 against Kész-St. Mihály-Szeged in their first league match of the year thanks to goals from Blanka Bokor and Eszter Csáki. After a short break, Balázs Dörnyei's side continue their campaign away in Felcsút.
“This will be the first time I play against them. I know they will be a good opponent and I expect a tough match. They're a good team, but I feel Honvéd have also put together a very strong squad for the second half of the season. So I think it's going to be a very, very good match. My goal this season is for us to win as many matches as possible.”
