Our women’s team recorded a 3–0 away victory over Újpest in round 7 of the Simple Women’s League.

Vachter drove forward energetically right at the start of the match, but her attempt did not result in a goal. In the 16th minute the home goalkeeper saved Bokor’s long-range effort, and two minutes later Széchenyi produced a superb save from an Újpest header by Boricsics. In the 24th minute the purple-and-whites’ goalkeeper pushed Horváthová’s shot away. The first half ended 0–0.

The breakthrough came in the second half: in the 58th minute Vachter capitalised on an error in the home defence and scored her seventh goal of the season to give us the lead. (0–1)
A few minutes later Újpest had a chance to equalise, but Széchenyi saved Katona’s shot. In the 77th minute Simon reacted sharply and doubled our advantage after a scramble from a corner. (0–2)
Újpest could not find a way through our well-organised defence, while we continued to control the game. The third goal arrived in stoppage time: in the 93rd minute Gruber’s own goal completed a 3–0 victory.

Our team played with discipline and concentration throughout and fully deserved a convincing away win.

Újpest FC – Budapest Honvéd FC 0–3 (0–0)
Scorers: Vachter (58.), Simon F. (77.), Gruber (93. – own goal)
Honvéd: Széchenyi – Csáki, Krisztin, Horváthová (Koszo 62.), Szilvási (Földvári 46.), Végh (Róth 46.), Vas, Sain, Vachter, Bokor, Simon
Head coach: Balázs Dörnyei

Balázs Dörnyei, head coach:
We played two very different halves, and perhaps the wind also played a part in that. In the first half we did not come onto the pitch the way we had planned, we rushed things too much and failed to win many second balls. Those were the things we had to put right at half-time. In the second half we had far more opportunities to score – although after we went 1–0 up, Újpest also had a clear chance, which we have to acknowledge. Overall, however, we did more today to win the match. It is a big achievement that we scored three goals, and they were typical “Honvéd” goals – we got there first and wanted it more. Hats off to the girls, we have these very important three points and we keep building.

Franciska Simon:
The first half was quite a physical battle against Újpest. I think they really came at us in the first 20 minutes, but gradually we also grew into the game. I felt we were compact and the opportunities kept coming. In the first half the final passes were still not right, but we came out for the second half knowing we simply had to win this match. We played that way too, and thanks to that we managed to take all three points.

In the next round we play a midweek match: on Wednesday from 12:00 we host Szekszárd at the academy.
