We started the first half a little hurriedly and often lacked the final precise action. We got close to the home goal several times after breaking down the Szeged defence: Nikolina and then Vachter both had big chances, but we could not score at that stage. At half-time the most important task was to calm the team down, while Balázs Dörnyei also made two positional changes.
In the second half we tried to play more securely in possession. The first twenty minutes after the break looked particularly good: we kept Szeged under constant pressure and chances came one after another. We took the lead with a fortunate goal in the 55th minute, then, as the hosts pushed for an equaliser, a fine combination produced our second goal in the 86th minute, which settled the match and gave us a 2–0 win.
Head coach Balázs Dörnyei:
“We dedicate the victory to Blanka Bokor, who is in hospital in Szeged after colliding with an opposition player. We wish her a speedy recovery because she is a very important member of the team. We have taken a step forward: last week we scored one goal, this time two. Then we conceded one, but today we managed to keep a clean sheet. I am especially pleased with those things because playing without conceding always provides a solid foundation for victory. This was a very even match against Szeged, but I am extremely proud of the girls that we can return home with three points.”
Fanni Vachter:
“In the first half I felt as if the team had stayed in the dressing room, but in the second we managed to correct our mistakes and fought hard on the pitch. I scored my first goal after Nikolina created the situation and I managed to finish it. Later, after Nelli Szilvássi came on, she gave me a great ball inside the penalty area and I converted it.”
