Before the international break our players had one more important challenge. After the away league match against ETO FC, they played a derby against Újpest at the Bozsik Arena.
We threatened as early as the 2nd minute: Fanni Vachter crossed into the middle, but after Eszter Czinege's attempted flick the ball went wide of the post. Sándor Oroszi's side took the lead in the 10th minute when, after a cross from visiting midfielder Sanda Malesevic, Fanni Erdész found the Kispest net. Our team reacted well and the equaliser soon followed. In the 14th minute Blanka Bokor played the ball into the middle, and after taking advantage of a mistake by the visitors, Fanni Vachter rolled the ball into the bottom-left corner. It was our player's 14th league goal of the 2025–2026 season. After drawing level we came close to taking the lead: Vachter's header went over the bar, then shortly afterwards Czinege arrived to meet our forward's cross and the ball was only narrowly prevented from crossing the goal line, as a purple-and-white defender cleared at the last moment. In the 40th minute Nikolett Krizsan produced a wonderful save. Vanda Katona unleashed a shot from 18 metres, but our 17-year-old goalkeeper stretched superbly to tip the ball away from under the bar, so the sides went into half-time at 1–1.
After the break Fanni Vachter took a corner, then Eszter Csáki collected the ball inside the penalty area, but her central shot bounced back off the post. In the 61st minute Maria Palama replaced Anna Sain: our Greek defender made her first appearance in Honvéd colours following a long injury lay-off. Shortly afterwards Rebeka Róth also came close to scoring, but visiting goalkeeper Réka Szőcs made a fine diving save. Late on our team had the chance to equalise: Vachter stepped up to the penalty spot, but her shot went wide of the right post. Although we had several chances in the first half, the visitors created more opportunities in the second, and an evenly balanced match ended 1–1. After the round, Balázs Dörnyei's side are eighth in the table with 21 points.

Balázs Dörnyei, head coach:
“We did not create many quality chances, although we had opportunities to score in both halves. The truth is that we keep giving our opponents an advantage. We certainly did not start the match aggressively enough and did not tire Újpest out. This was our third game in a week and it showed. Physically we had no problems, but concentration was an issue. Our attitude was right in the second half, but the quality of our play did not change.
Maria Palama:
“We are disappointed with the result because we wanted to keep all three points at the Bozsik Arena, but we are focusing on the next matches. The international break means a longer pause now. During that time we will train and prepare so that we are ready for the upcoming games and can win them.”
