FK Crvena Zvezda–Kispest–Honvéd FC 2–1 (2–0)
István Körtvélyesi's team visited Serbian side Crvena Zvezda. Our U17s went into the break two goals down, then Bence Domány scored our first goal after the interval. Although we put the hosts' goal under pressure after scoring, we couldn't find an equaliser and suffered a 2–1 defeat.
Starting line-up: Dávid Czinki, Márk Érsek, Botond Hovárth-Garaba, Soma Kralicsek, Olivér Barton, Magor Marinyák, Bence Domány, Botond Hegyes, Botond Rotár, Kornél Solymos, Hunor Hajagos.

Head coach István Körtvélyesi: “We struggled to find our rhythm in the first half and had difficulty receiving the ball when building attacks. As a result, we often had to initiate moves with long balls against their well-organised, settled defence. At times our play was rather improvised, but we still managed to create good attacking moves and keep possession in front of their goal. Defensively, our opponents mainly attacked down the wings, and our cover and support for one another weren't always good enough. One of the goals we conceded came from inexperience rather than a failure of our collective defending. We created numerous good chances through open play and after winning back possession, but unfortunately couldn't convert them. The second goal came from an individual defensive error that resulted in a penalty; our opponents' pace and direct play were key weapons. After we scored, we found fresh energy and put their goal under pressure, but unfortunately couldn't equalise. I found the match extremely valuable: I believe they were among the strongest opponents we'll face during pre-season. These are the matches that truly reveal where the team stands and what we need to improve, both individually and collectively.”

We put together a number of fine attacks and could have won by an even bigger margin. Of course we're very happy with the win, but we also know we still have work to do before the league season starts. Until then, we'll focus on building a versatile, well-rounded and united team that can perform successfully during the season.”
