A point and a clean sheet

Following the victory over Astra (our first success of the season), our women's team visited Viktória FC in Szombathely. Our opponents had started the season with two wins, which showed that we could not expect an easy match at the rain-soaked Haladás Stadium, and we also had to do without our leading scorer Csuhai Vivien due to suspension. Of the summer signings, Schildkraut Fruzsina made her Honvéd debut in Szombathely, while Karla Kurkotovic was named in the starting line-up for the first time.

The match, played in difficult conditions on a heavy pitch, was a real battle. We were more in control during the first half but could not score, while the second period was more evenly balanced. Unfortunately, we made the wrong decision several times with the final pass, or the home defenders were able to clear. At the other end our team defended flawlessly, although our opponents did the same, so the league match ended in a 0–0 draw. Viktória dropped points for the first time this season, while we recorded our first draw of the campaign.

Martin Masaryk: – I am proud of the girls. Once again they showed what an excellent mentality they have, while the teamwork is improving from match to match and there is very good harmony within the team. I could see that everyone was disappointed with the draw; nil-nil was not our objective, we wanted to win, and I congratulate our opponents on earning a point. We know the path we have set out on and we also know what we still need to improve, but it is very important that the girls believe in our philosophy and proudly represent Honvéd's colours. Regarding the match, we should also add that the opposition were able to create chances from our mistakes. We need to improve that, and at times we were fortunate as well. Taking the lessons into account, we keep working, approach our task with humility and want to continue improving.
