Our women's team suffered a 3–2 away defeat to ETO FC in Round 17 of the Simple Women's League on Wednesday. Although we went into half-time three goals down, after the break goals from Fanni Vachter and Gyöngyvér Szalay reduced the deficit and in the final minutes we were able to push for an equaliser. Our 19-year-old midfielder scored her first league goal of the 2025–2026 season.
“Against Győr we gave the first half away to our opponents. Mentally we were not switched on enough and were not aggressive enough. In the second half we came out with a much better mentality, we felt there was something in the game for us and managed to make it much closer, even if we still left without a point. I was very happy to contribute to the match with a goal and to bring some freshness into our play.”
Balázs Dörnyei's side have not had much time before the next league match, as they host Újpest at the Bozsik Arena on Sunday. Our team last faced the sixth-placed purple-and-whites in the autumn, when we managed to beat them by three goals.
“We go into the match against Újpest motivated and will try to keep all three points at home, especially at the Bozsik Arena. It will be a great feeling to play there again; the atmosphere against DVTK was excellent too. I think Újpest are an aggressive team, and I am sure it will be a hard-fought match. They will not give up the three points easily, but we have to win if we want to climb the table.”
