As is known, our women's team prepared for the midweek round with a convincing victory, winning 5–0 away to DVTK on Sunday. Our side completed the match without conceding, with Szonja Széchenyi in goal, making her first start in the Simple Women's League since February.
“We played DVTK on Sunday and I was very happy to be named in the starting line-up. I tried to make the most of the opportunity and do everything I could to keep a clean sheet. I felt a little stressed before the match, but I tried to leave that in the dressing room and focus on my job once I was on the pitch,” – our 21-year-old player summed up, before stressing that they have improved a lot in terms of communication, primarily thanks to the strong team spirit.
“I think our team spirit is very good, and as a result the communication on the pitch is really noticeable. In every training session we try to focus on talking more, both on and off the pitch.”
A serious test awaits Balázs Dörnyei's side on Wednesday, however, as last season's league runners-up PAFC visit Kispest at 15:00. Our opponents beat newly promoted Astra HFC 2–1 in the previous round and therefore go into the match from fourth place in the table, with four wins, two draws and one defeat. Szonja Széchenyi spent four seasons in Felcsút, where she played at U16, U17 and U19 level, and in the 2022-2023 season made her top-flight debut against Videoton FC Fehérvár.
“We expect a tough match against Felcsút, so we want to play our own game and get the best out of ourselves. My years in Felcsút were very memorable; I developed and learned a great deal from the coaches, and I also gained a lot of valuable experience.”
