A difficult task awaited our side on Wednesday as we visited four-time Hungarian Cup winners ETO FC. Before the match we had faced the Rába-side team six times but had never managed to beat them. Fourth-placed Győr have shown stable league form, although in the last two rounds they left both Felcsút and Ferencváros without a point, and the latter also knocked ETO out of the cup competition.
In the first minute, after winning the ball, Franciska Simon crossed into the middle, but Eszter Czinege's central shot was held by the home goalkeeper. In the 6th minute Dóra Süle took a corner and, although Nikolett Krizsan got a touch to the ball, the hosts came within a whisker of taking the lead. In the 17th minute the 27-year-old Hungary international forward Dóra Süle again crossed in front of goal, but Krizsan stretched well to save. The hosts took the lead in the 21st minute: after a cross from Cintia Öreg, Simona Horváthová tried to clear but the ball landed perfectly on the head of Petra Kocsán, who glanced it into the net (1–0). Although our 17-year-old goalkeeper produced another fine save shortly afterwards, Tamás Preszeller's side doubled their lead in the 24th minute. Dóra Süle took a corner and her delivery bounced off the crossbar into the net (2–0). In the 42nd minute Petra Kocsán won a duel and played the ball to our former player Josilene Matos, who fired into the right corner (3–0).
Although our team began the second half three goals down, after the break we shifted into a higher gear and began to reduce the deficit. In the 65th minute Fanni Vachter pulled one back: Eszter Czinege played the ball into the path of our 24-year-old forward, who fired into the bottom-right corner from 16 metres (3–1). It was our player's 15th goal in all competitions in the 2025–2026 season. Five minutes before the end of normal time, substitute Gyöngyvér Szalay rolled the ball into the net to score her fourth goal. Balázs Dörnyei's side reduced the deficit to one, but the equaliser did not arrive and we left Győr without a point.

Balázs Dörnyei, head coach:
“We gave away the first half. We conceded one goal that can happen in these weather conditions, but the other two did not look good. We found ourselves three goals down, which is very difficult to recover from. In the second half we started reducing the gap; we know we have no conditioning problems, we won more duels and took advantage of the opponent's mistakes. A third goal was in the game too, but that is football. If you give away one half, there is no guarantee you get everything back in the second. Even so, I am pleased the team showed resilience and we did everything we could to equalise.”
Fanni Vachter:
“You cannot give an opponent of this level a whole half of an advantage, but I was very happy that in the second half the match genuinely became about whether we could equalise and go home with a draw. We can be proud of ourselves that even at 3–0 down we were able to put pressure on the opposition.”
