Szonja Széchenyi started in goal for her first top-flight match in Honvéd colours.
The match did not start well for us. Vivien Csuhai was injured during the warm-up, so Eliza Nagy had to start in her place. This enforced change left its mark on the first half.
The home side's dominance was evident throughout the match and was reflected in the goals as well: in the seventh minute Diósgyőr took the lead through Sára Krisztin, then in the 18th minute Anna Ezer made it 2–0. The home side's two-goal advantage remained until half-time.
After the restart Diósgyőr continued to put heavy pressure on our goal. We attacked on the counter and had one or two shots on target, which Anna Ádám saved comfortably.
We resisted the Diósgyőr pressure until the 89th minute, when Anastasiia Myhal scored to set the final score: DVTK–Budapest Honvéd FC 3–0.
Virág Sipőcz's assessment: “We were put in a difficult situation even before kick-off because Vivi's injury meant we had to change our formation, which clearly affected the team in the first 15 minutes, and we conceded two avoidable goals. In the second half of the first half we already had chances, but we could not turn them into goals. In the second half we did everything to score, played attacking football, but unfortunately Diósgyőr scored a third on the counter late on and decided the match. We are disappointed, but we will try to move on and focus only on our final match against Szekszárd.”
In the final round of the Simple Women's League, we host Szekszárd at the Honvéd-MFA Youth Centre on Saturday, May 10, from 16:00.
