It had been 129 days since we last faced Ferencváros. As is well known, we suffered a three-goal defeat to Flórián Albert's side in the Simple Women's Cup final and therefore finished the competition with a silver medal. This was our first meeting with the green-and-whites since the cup final, and motivation was once again not an issue as our players wanted to prove themselves against the defending champions. It was never going to be an easy task, as matches against Ferencváros are always tough. Although we had never previously managed to beat the nine-time Hungarian champions, our most recent home match ended in a 1–1 draw, and our goal this time was again to make life difficult for the title holders.
The visitors tried to threaten from the opening minutes, but our defenders were well positioned and managed to clear. In the 13th minute Simona Horváthová sent in a cross, then after possession was given away the ball fell to Eszter Csáki, who aimed for the bottom-right corner from 16 metres, but her effort went wide of the post. The visitors threatened twice in quick succession through Evelin Fenyvesi, before our goalkeeper Nikolett Krizsan, back from the U19 national team, made a spectacular diving save in the 23rd minute. The champions took the lead late in the first half: Petra Gégény, who spent last season on loan at our club, took the corner, Vlada Kubassova flicked the ball on and it deflected off our defender Petra Nyul into the net, leaving us one goal down at the break (0–1).
The match resumed at a good tempo after the interval. In the 53rd minute Fanni Vachter took a corner and Eszter Csáki headed the delivery, but the ball went wide of the right post. Krizsan also produced important saves in the second half, preventing our opponents from doubling their advantage. In the 77th minute, following a Frajtovics free kick, Brigitta Gődér put the ball into the net, but the referee ruled the goal out for offside. We had one final chance to equalise in stoppage time, but after Horváthová's corner the ball was cleared off the goal line, allowing the visitors to preserve their one-goal lead.
Our women's team will next be in action away to DVTK at 16:00 next Sunday.

Balázs Dörnyei, head coach: “In the first half I felt we were a little nervous and rushed, and there was very little willingness to take responsibility in our play. We spoke about that at half-time. We looked better in the second half and were able to create danger in front of the opposition goal, but then we lacked composure. There were many situations where we had already broken through Fradi's defensive line but still made rushed decisions: we passed when we should have shot, and shot when we should have passed. We gave everything over the two halves; only a little bit of quality and composure was missing on the pitch."
Eszter Csáki: “I saw that everyone in the team fought and worked hard until the very last moment. We really wanted to win this match, but at the very least we wanted to battle our way to a draw. I am sorry it ended up this way."
