After three years, Újpest FC II again – the purple-and-whites visit Kispest

Our second team were away at Szolnok in Round 7 of the NB III South-East Group, but returned without a point after the hosts won 1–0 through Milán Iván's 84th-minute goal. István Körtvélyesi's side did not play last week because of the Hungarian Cup round, but we will not be without a match this weekend, as Újpest II visit Kispest on Sunday. Our head coach was shown a red card in the 75th minute of the match against Szolnoki MÁV FC and, due to his two-match suspension, he cannot take his place on the bench in the next two league fixtures, so our assistant coach, Ivan Lovric, will temporarily take charge of the team.

Újpest FC II competed in the North-West Group last season, but began the 2026–2027 campaign in the South-East Group. The two teams were last in the same group in the 2022–2023 season; we have met the purple-and-whites four times in the third tier, with a record of three wins and one defeat. Our opponents have started the season well, winning 6–1 at home against Szegedi VSE in the previous round, so after seven matches they sit third in the table with two wins, four draws and one defeat heading into the fixture.
