Our second team took the pitch at the academy on Sunday morning against Újpest FC II. The purple-and-whites competed in the North-West Group last season, but started the 2026–2027 campaign in the South-East Group, making this the first encounter between the two sides since 2023. Due to a two-match touchline ban, our head coach István Körtvélyesi could not be on the bench, so assistant coach Ivan Lovric temporarily took charge of the team.
The match had to wait 27 minutes for the opening goal, when Bonifác Csonka headed home from a corner to give us the lead (1–0). Towards the end of the first half, Szilveszter Hetyei was also on target, allowing us to head into the break with a two-goal advantage. (2–0). Following the restart, a counterattack ended with Hetyei setting up Kristóf Kenéz, who calmly slotted the ball into the net to extend our lead. Our goalscorer was replaced in the 79th minute by Patrik Érsek, who made his debut for our second team. No further goals were scored in the remainder of the match, keeping all three points at home and snapping Újpest's four-match unbeaten run. (3–0).
Next time, we will be in action next Saturday at 16:00, when we visit Gyulai Termál FC.

During the week it was already visible that several elements were starting to come together in training as well. The most crucial aspects, such as our approach to the game and playing under pressure, were at the right level. We didn't rush, we delivered a purposeful and organized performance. The players are very receptive, and this match shows that there is serious potential in them. We need to keep working the same way, and everyone will achieve their goals!”
