After the three-week international break, our team played its first competitive match on Friday. Last Saturday we beat Budaörs 2–0 thanks to a brace from Eszter Czinege, so we went into Round 19 of the league on the back of a victory. With the season entering its closing stages, collecting points was crucial for both sides, especially for our opponents, who started the match in the relegation zone.
We had to wait only two minutes for the opening goal: after a corner, Fanni Vachter delivered the ball perfectly onto the head of Eszter Csáki, and our 19-year-old player nodded it into the net without hesitation (0–1). In the 14th minute we doubled our advantage. Our captain sent a free kick into the middle, Anna Sain timed her run perfectly and headed into the right corner (0–2). It was our defender's first league goal in Honvéd colours. The momentum did not drop: shortly afterwards Blanka Bokor played the ball to Eszter Csáki, whose central shot was saved by the home goalkeeper, before she fired the rebound left-footed into the far corner (0–3). Eri Narita scored our fourth in the 30th minute: after a pass from Gyöngyvér Szalay, our player calmly rolled the ball into the bottom-right corner (0–4). Our Japanese international started a league match for the second time and scored her first goal in a Honvéd shirt.
Our team kept producing goals. As half-time approached, Maria Palama left the Szekszárd defenders behind and crossed from the wing, then Csáki lifted the ball over the goalkeeper (0–5). Although Szekszárd also had an opportunity to reduce the deficit late in the first half, they missed their clear chance and we preserved our five-goal lead. After the restart Petra Gégény added her name to the scoresheet: following a beautiful through ball from Szalay, our 17-year-old player fired inside the near post (0–6).

Balázs Dörnyei, head coach:
Today's match was made considerably easier by the fact that we managed to take the lead. I also asked the players that, exceptionally, we should not be 'diesel engines' in the first ten minutes, but if possible take the lead immediately when the opportunity arises. The team followed that instruction. From then on it became a completely different match and our task was much easier.
Petra Gégény:
I had been waiting a long time for my first goal for Honvéd and wanted to help the team with a goal as soon as possible. I am happy that it happened now. In the previous matches I also tried to perform as well as I could, but unfortunately the goals did not come. Better late than never – the ice is broken now, so from here the only way is up.
Eszter Csáki:
I am very happy that the floodgates finally opened! I had not scored recently and I am more of a defensive type of player. Now that I am playing further forward, it is great that the goals came too.
