With three consecutive wins under their belt, our women's team is preparing for Saturday's league match against Videoton FC Fehérvár. Our squad will be on the road once again, having most recently visited Astra HFC, where they claimed a 3–1 victory following a goalless first half. Our 22-year-old defender played one half and highlighted that the dressing room atmosphere is fantastic.
“On Sunday against Astra, we played a very hard-fought game. Because of the difficult pitch conditions, we couldn't really play our own style, so we made adjustments at halftime. Balázs – Balázs Dörnyei, head coach – Ed. – asked me to deliver as many high balls into the penalty box as possible and try to create goals from them. The atmosphere in the dressing room is very good, we are in high spirits, and we are looking forward to the next match,” summed up Anna Sain, adding that the squad is made up of great personalities, which also contributes to their positive run.
“We are expecting a tough match against Videoton as well, despite the heavy defeat they suffered over the weekend. We are preparing for this game just like any other, and our goal is clearly to win.”
Our player came on as a substitute in the last three fixtures, but against Astra HFC she was already able to spend an entire half on the pitch. Anna was previously sidelined by an injury, making her all the more thrilled to be available to the team once again.
“It's hard to earn playing time, especially for me right now since I was injured and have only just returned. That's why I'm really glad I featured in the last three games and was able to help the team. I will continue to do everything I can to get on the pitch.”
Football runs in the family for our young defender: her younger brother, Balázs Sain, plays for DVSC and made his debut in the OTP Bank Liga during the 2026–2027 season. Anna is extremely proud of her brother and shared that they try to attend each other's games whenever they have the chance.
“Balázs plays in NB I in Debrecen, and I try to go home on weekends whenever I can. At home, football is a major topic in our family, especially when both of us are around. I'm so happy things worked out for him, and I'm very proud of him.”
