There was another midweek round in the Simple Women's League on Wednesday. Following the emphatic victory over DVTK, we hosted last season's runners-up PAFC at the academy. We had played the side from Felcsút five times before the match and, although the all-time record favoured the visitors, we had managed to take a point from the Pancho Aréna in March, giving us reason for confidence ahead of the encounter. Matches against Kinga Halászi's side are consistently tough, so there was no question that maximum concentration would be required if we wanted to keep all three points at home.
As expected, the match began at a good tempo, but the visitors were already able to threaten in the opening minutes, making it clear early on that our task would not be easy this time either. In the 19th minute Androniki sent a cross into the middle, but Nikolett Krizsan came off her line well and was able to intervene in time. Although our opponents put us under pressure in the first half and took ten corners, we reached the break without conceding. After the goalless opening half, the second period began with plenty of action, and we did not have to wait long for our first goal. In the 48th minute Fanni Vachter won the ball and laid it into the path of Panna Nagy, who calmly curled it into the net. With that, our 27-year-old forward scored her first league goal in Honvéd colours (1–0).
Not long afterwards Adrienn Bokor was shown a red card, so our team gained a numerical advantage at the best possible moment. In the 55th minute we had another big opportunity: Fanni Vachter again put Panna Nagy through, but Gabriella Orosz was alert and made the save. Ten minutes later Panna Sági tried her luck from distance and Krizsan tipped the ball out from under the crossbar. Although Velize Lashawn King headed the rebound into the net, the referee ruled the goal out for offside. Our second goal again came from a Vachter–Nagy combination: Fanni Vachter sent Panna Nagy clear, and from near the six-yard box Nagy unselfishly returned the ball to her team-mate, who calmly rolled it into the net (2–0). Although the visitors were awarded a penalty in the closing stages, Krizsan made a superb save to preserve our two-goal advantage.
Balázs Dörnyei's side therefore won 2–0 and recorded its first victory over PAFC.
